The British Association of Teachers of the Deaf:  'BATOD is the ONLY Association representing the interests of teachers of deaf children and young people in the United Kingdom. It includes in its membership representatives from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and from all the many branches of the profession as well as colleagues from overseas.'


'Crick Software, based in Northampton, UK, and Seattle, Washington, is solely focused on producing innovative educational software. The company concentrates particularly on software tools for literacy. Crick Software promotes the inclusion of children of all abilities by creating flexible products that can be tailored by teachers to the needs of individuals. Most products have the option of switch access, for users with a disability who are unable to use a mouse or keyboard. '

 

'This website provides free software for people who are deafblind or have learning disabilities. This software can be used to enable them to learn, explore their surroundings and become more independent. Parents, carers and support staff can download the software and assist the disabled people in using the software.'    I came across this site through a commendation by Abingdon & Witney  College.


E-Learning and Mobility Project:  'Using ICT to enhance learning for mobile Traveller children.'   Not so much a website but a document giving some details of Policies and further contacts.

LottieScript is a suite of applications designed to run on a Personal Computer either stand alone, or with an interactive whiteboard. The applications are primarily intended to support the teaching of handwriting by providing tools to both illustrate and demonstrate handwriting styles. The software also supports the teaching of basic literacy, with its ability to sound simple phonics and identify vowels and consonants in entered text, these features will also be enhanced in future releases.'

 

'Notschool.net is a national, Internet based ‘Virtual Online Community’ offering an alternative to traditional education for young people who, for a variety of reasons, can no longer cope with school or with complementary provisions such as home tutoring or specialist units. Notschool.net is a last resort for young people disengaged from classroom learning because of illness, pregnancy, bullying, phobia, travelling, reluctance to learn, disaffection, exclusion, statemented.'

TechDis is a JISC-funded service (Joint Information Systems Committee). '
