Essential Skills Training and Certification for Today’s Educators
Today’s training
environment has experienced radical change from the days of OHPs and
Flipcharts. Teachers, lecturers and training professionals alike find technological tools ranging from
digital projection systems, interactive whiteboards, tablet PCs, PDAs and virtual learning
environments now form common ‘tools of their trade’
Over the last ten years or so we have seen many attempts to provide educators with the bare-bones ICT skills. However,
technical skills by themselves
do not make a Curriculum and thus far too often the take-up of ICT within subject
areas has not been as effective as one would like.
In order to harness the improvements which technology can offer, developers
and educators require not only hands-on, practical training and
development - they need the practical advice and practice and encouragement in implementing such
strategies. The EPICT Licence provides a comprehensive framework for educator
development in this area. With emphasis on the tutor’s competency to apply new
forms of technology to their own learning and training scenarios, the EPICT programme enables participants to improve their skills and innovate within their
work practice.
