EPICT - #2 - Background and Development |
Developed by a range of pedagogical and educational technology experts across Europe, the licence focuses on the pedagogical
underpinning and rationale of technology deployment within teaching and learning. Thus, educators reflect upon technological
and pedagogical fit and the enhancement of existing teaching practices. The programme’s origins in teacher education and
expertise moves classroom technologies away from the computer professional’s viewpoint to an education and pedagogy first rationale.
The aim is to empower the education professional in order to increase their confidence with technology and to realign the role of
computer support within the educational environment.
Thus, the programme uses key themes recognised and valued by education and
training professionals. These include reflection, action based learning, peer
support and social networking. Modules range from the incorporation of online
resources within learning and training activities, the pedagogical use of
virtual learning platforms and their practical application in blended learning
approaches and the appropriate deployment of the latest presentation technology.
As part of the programme design, EPICT allows participants
to choose specialised modules covering areas of personal interest.
