Although not directly related to Teaching and Learning, perhaps the first and simplest quality mark for schools I would recommend is the Charter Mark. It is a start in the right direction and is not too painful! As their website's blurb says:
"This is the official website for Charter Mark, the UK Government's national standard for excellence in customer service. Charter Mark is a registered certification mark, owned by the Government Communications Group in the Cabinet Office. It is a positive force for change and customer service improvement."
The Charter Mark is very much about the organisation and communication of information between the various 'partners', parents, pupils, staff and supply agencies.
As one Case Study quotes:
"The mechanics of preparing the evidence was made easier because of the strong commitment of ensuring the highest quality standards, through a process of on-going monitoring and review that already existed across the nine schools."
For schools and colleges that have their Policies in place (and understood by
all staff) there is no problem. The Charter Mark is, for them, just
a process of organising documentation to its simplest form, more accessible to
all staff and thus more job-enabling.
